Churt Satellites 2 Dorking Reds 2

Greig Watts9 Mar - 16:02

Another close and competitive game

Both teams arrived at The Satellites home ground, ready to battle out another game, after the previous was a close fought 2-2.

Once again, Churt had to field a makeshift defence with Amy O's illness adding to long term absentees.

So Ruby Clarke and Amy Thompson filled in in defence alongside Tallula Musgrove and Alex Hayward.

The game started and was well balanced, with both teams battling out in Midfield, Dorking having a bit more of the starting play.

On the 6th minute, A Dorking player back passed to the keeper and the ball went under her foot and straight into the goal. 1-0 To Churt and an unexpected way to take the lead.

Dorking became the stronger team, but Churt still held out until the 19th minute, when a long and unstoppable free kick was put into the back of the net. 1-1.

On the 35th minute Ruby Clarke came off injured and made for an even more make shift defence with Martha Pittman moving to right back and Amy Thompson moving into the Centre back role.

Half time 1-1.

Ruby tried to start the second half but soon came off as she was still struggling,

Dorking scored a goal on the 46th minute and went 2-1 up.

Both teams continued to battle out an untidy game but Dorking were having the best of the chances.

Ruby Clarke managed to come back on the field on the 60th minute, this time further up the pitch and able to support Hannah Watts, who had run her socks off chasing balls all day.

The game became more open and Churt had a few more chances, but nothing really outright.

A free kick was awarded from about 35 yards out, probably a bit too far too shoot. But Ruby Clarke stepped up and looped it into the net. Suddenly Churt were back in it, 2-2.

And from then on Churt were not going to let point slip away, and took control of the match. It finished 2-2.

Not the best team performance apart from their Never say die attitude to keep on going till the final whistle.

The defence and Tilly played a good game, but with all the changes in midfield, the performance was disjointed and the forwards found it hard to get in the game. Pheobe Mitchell, as usual battled throughout the game and Hannah Watts, ran and ran and ran, trying to hold the ball up.
