Churt came into the game, again with a weakened squad. First team players, Emily Watts, Tia Eldridge, Maisie Lambert, Tallula Musgrove and Ruby Clark, all unable to play due to injury or illness, so the defence was makeshift and expectations were low, as Teddington had already beaten us twice this season
The game started with Teddington on top and they opened the scoring on 8 minutes with a well worked move. 0-1 .
Teddington had more chances but Churt came into the game more and more and the press from Phoebe in midfield, to Hannah, Ella and Sophie all pushing forward, eventually paid off, we Ella nicking the ball, Sophie getting it to Hannah who slotted home. 1-1 and Churt were in it!
The game carried on the same way. Teddington good going forward and getting chances, but Churt equally getting some breaks.
At half time it remained 1-1.
In the second half, the game was much the same, in some ways Teddington were playing the better football, but Churt were outfighting them in places.
Teddington had a few chances, one hitting the post, a few past the post, but the score remained 1-1.
Then a ball came through the middle and Churt second half goalkeeper, Tilly Carr, nearly got to it, but the forward managed to put it away. This was 60 minutes in and was a shame as it was tight, 1-2 to Teddington.
The rest of the game remained tight, Hannah Watts had one chance to nick a goal but on her right foot she shot and the keeper managed to save.
There was also a chance or two from corners but they just couldnt be put away.
A good strong and competitive game ended 2-1 to Teddington. Player of the match for Churt was Phoebe Mitchell, again endless running and breaking up the play, but also a strong performance from the rest of the team. Ella, Hannah and Sophie, ran their socks off up front, chasing and pressing, and Amy T and Eva, the new central defensive partnership did really well.
A good way to end the year, a shame its a loss but a really hard fought loss against a great team.
Happy christmas everyone, roll on 2025
