The Satellites arrived for this cup match, again without many players, with Emily Watts, joining Maisie Lambert and Tia Eldridge on the injury list and Eva Jenkins and Sophie Allen being unavailable.
Churt knew this would be a tough game with only one recognised centre back in the team and Teddington being one of the best teams in the league, but with the wet conditions and it being the cup, the team were told to go out and fight for everything and thats what they did.
Whilst Teddington dominated the first 10-15 minutes, Churt stood their ground and defended strongly, with Ruby Clarke and Tallula Musgrove holding the defence really well, and a couple of good saves from Jamie Nixon.
The Satellites after that came into the game more and started to have some great breaks of their own, but couldnt quite get the opening goal.
It was pretty tight, messy and hard fought until the break, and teddington were becoming frustrated and not being able to break Churt down.
The teams came in at half time at 0-0 and the coach's gave the players a big applause for their strong first half performance.
The second half started much the same but this time Teddington broke through and scored, with a shot coming back off the post and then the rebound being put past the Churt keeper for the second half, Tilly Carr. 1-0 Teddington.
The game continued in the same way, both teams battling, and on 52 minutes, Lily Jay put a great pass through to Ella Farrier to run onto, she controlled it and ran like a steam train, holding off the defenders and then shooting from the 18 yard box, what a goal from ELLA!!
1-1. Now it was game on and Churt had more chances, but you could see with the lack of subs that some players legs were starting to go. Jamie Nixon, Churt's first half keeper, took a turn on pitch to give Amy Thompson a well earned rest. Amy had been running her legs off all the game, helping Hannah Watts press up front.
But Teddington started to dominate again, and this time their attacks started to get through, on 64 minutes they took the lead, 2-1.
6 minutes later, they got a third, 3-1, but Churt still didnt give up and had a couple of chances of their own, but now the 5 subs of Teddington against the 1 of Churt started to show, especially on the muddy wet pitch. Teddington scored their 4th on 78 minutes, which was a big turnaround, as on 63 minutes at 1-1 we were starting to think about penalty takers. Even the referee at the end of the game said he thought it was going to penalties, but Teddington in the end were the better team and deserved to win.
The Churt girls gave their all. Amy O'Donnell playing a whole game after feeling unwell before the game, a big achievement. Ruby Clark, standing in at centre back and having a great game, she was player of the match in the end, but it was a good team performance even though there was a loss, the girls can all be proud!
