The Satellites and Teddington both turned up to this game with the bare minimum of players. Both teams played a hard-fought game right up to the final whistle, but in the end the Satellites lost 4-2 to Teddington in a very high quality, competitive match.
In the 1st half Churt struggled to contain an extremely talented player from Teddington, their no. 21, and it was this player who opened up the scoring in the 5th minute. She dribbled down the left wing at pace, beat a couple of defenders and then scored at the near post. 1-0 to Teddington.
The Satellites fought back straight away and scored an equaliser after 13 minutes. Ella played a through ball to Hannah. After initially being tackled, she managed to win the ball back with some help from Sophie Allen (who was making her debut) and then scored a great goal into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
After 18 minutes, Jamie came on to replace the injured Ella, and demonstrated again what a great outfield player she is with some great passing in midfield.
Both defences continued to be under lots of pressure for the remainder of the 2nd half. Teddington were a constant menace down the flanks, and Churt were a constant threat with some slick passing in midfield and attack.
Tilly kept the away team in the game with 3 fantastic saved at close range during the 1st half; likewise the Teddington goalkeeper twice stopped Sophie scoring her 1st goal for the Satellites with 2 great saves with her feet.
Despite the strong goalkeeping there were 3 further goals scored in the 1st half. Teddington initially went 3-1 up, but Churt managed to pull one back shortly before half time. Sophie was released down the right, she beat 1 defender and then put in a superb low cross, which found Hannah at the far post who scored her 2nd goal of the game.
The 2nd half of the game was equally as competitive but far fewer chances were created. The Satellites improved their defending with Amy O, Lula, Emily and Amy T all making great tackles and clearances. The midfield was also a stalemate with Martha and Phoebe and Liv all working their socks off to prevent Teddington dominating the game.
Teddington’s best chance of the 2nd half came after 60 minutes when one of their players was through on goal. Jamie came off her line quickly and managed to stop the initial shot. A melee in the box then proceeded involving at least 8 players and some how Churt managed to stop the ball crossing the goal line, with Lula making the final clearance out of the box.
With just 2 minutes to go, the Satellites were unfortunate to concede a 4th goal. After initially making a couple of tackles they were unable to clear the ball, and somehow Teddington manage to poke the ball into the goal.
All in all this was another great performance from Churt Satellites, against a very strong team, and they were unlucky not to get more from the game. Player of the match was given to Tilly for the 3 great saves she made in the 1st half which kept the game open for the 2nd half.
