Churt came into the game, licking their wounds from a heavy defeat last week, and also licking their literal wounds as several players had been injured!.
But the team sheet looked good at the start, and apart from missing, Hannah Watts, Martha Pittman, Alex Hayward and Tilly Carr, everyone was playing in their usual positions.
Churt started dominantly, pinning Sutton back, particularly with Amy Thompson winning corners down the right. On the 4th minute, one of the corners had an effect and Ruby swung in the cross, Isobel Kandak caused havoc and got her head to a ball, that Amy Thompson managed to power home. 1-0 Churt.
Churt continued to dominate, with fleeting forays from Sutton, but nothing concrete and on the 12th minute, Maisie Lambert won a free kick on the corner of the box. Ruby Clarke looped the ball over and it went into the corner of the net, maybe assisted by a defender on its way. But 2-0 Churt.
More domination from Churt but they didnt take their chances for a while, then on the 32nd minute a free kick was awarded. Ruby Clarke again floated the ball in and this time Maisie Lambert got to the rebound and powered the ball home.
7 minutes later, a nice move on the left, resulted in Phoebe Mitchell winning the ball and passing it inside to Maisie. Maisie turned into the box and planted the ball into the back of the net with her right foot. 4-0
And the half time whistle blew.
Churt came out even more dominant in the second half as spaces opened up. On the 42nd minute, Maisie found Ruby Clarke who dribbled and then looped a shot in from outside the box. What a beauty. 5-0.
And shortly after, almost a carbon copy of a goal, this time Ella Farrier's assist reaching Ruby, who had found her shooting boots, and she put it away for her hat trick. 6-0.
4 minutes later, Ella Farrier made some great progress in the box and looked like she was fouled as she kicked the ball across to Ruby, the referee played advantage and Ruby Clarke powered home her 4th, and Churt's 7th. 7-0.
On the 55th minute, Maisie Lambert, hit her hat trick, with another powerful shot from the left. 8-0.
On 60 minutes, Churt decided to experiment a bit with the game, moving Isobel Kandak into midfield and they continued to dominate.
A few more chances came and went, and in the 72nd minute, Maisie Lambert had to cover at centre back when Emily Watts needed a breather, as she was playing again with another cough.
Sutton got a consultation goal from a brilliant move down the right, when the makeshift Churt defence, was caught out and the ball hit home on the 76th minute. The game finished 8-1.
It was a commanding performance from the team, Defensively solid, Midfield winning all the battles and The forwards and midfield scoring great goals. Jamie Nixon played a full game in goal and also had a faultless performance. Player of the match was Ella Farrier, who ran and ran, and got two assists, but truly the whole team played a great game.
