Churt 1 KPR 6

Greig Watts7 Apr 2024 - 13:26

A Match full of injuries

Churt came into the game in 3rd place in the league, with the exact same record as KPR, so it was a crunch game.

Unfortunately being played in the middle weekend of Easter Holidays, meant both teams had a lower number of players. Churt starting with 11, one coming back from a Hamstring injury and another playing with a fever. KPR also only had 12.

The game was closish in the first 5 minutes, but soon KPR started to dominate, partly due to Churt players playing out of position and also the wind was pinning Churt back too, with some good play from KPR thrown in.

Eventually KPR's superiority resulted in a goal from a corner. 1-0 to KPR at 20 minutes.

Churt battled on, and on the 28th minute, Maisie Lambert came down the left hand side and floated a long shot/cross into t he box, it went over the keeper and Amy O was there to battle it over the line. 1-1.

Hannah watts had to come off as her Hamstring wasn't holding out and Churt now had 10 players. KPR continued to dominate and scored 2 more goals before half time. Churt 1 KPR 3 at Half Time.

Churt came off a little despondent but not out of the game. Martha couldnt return to the game after half time as she was struggling with a fever, but Hannah came back on and Churt had 10.

KPR still dominated and went 4-1 after 45 minutes.

Hannah had to leave the field again, so Churt were down. to 9 players and then Ruby Clarke also injured her ankle. She came off and Martha went back on . So still only 9 on the pitch and one playing with a fever.

It was starting to look like a complete mismatch, and KPR were dominant. Churt playing as much as they can, but just didnt have the legs with 9 players to compete. Two more goals came from KPR to make it 6-1. Churt were picking up more injuries, so it was decided to end the game with 25 minutes to play, to protect the girls welfare. Sometimes you get to the point where you have to concede the other team have won and we just can't compete with less players and players playing through injury.

So the game finished Churt 1 - KPR 6.

Well done to KPR for playing in a good spirit and to their coaches for agreeing to stop the game.

Well done to the Churt players for battling through and for Keeper Jamie Nixon, coming all the way back from Cornwall.

Hopefully the injured players will be back soon and we can field a full team, with subs, next week!
