We repeat CHURT 8 Beacon Hill 1!

Churt Satellites vs Beacon Hill U15s: 12th November 2023
The Satellites progressed to the round of 16 in the Surrey County Cup with a tremendous performance in a derby match against their arch-rivals Beacon Hill.
The ‘home’ fixture for the Satellites was played at Beacon Hill’s lovely new 3G pitch at Woolmer Hill, to ensure the game could go ahead, following the recent wet weather.
The ‘away’ team looked the stronger team during the first 10-15 minutes, with many of the Satellites perhaps struggling with the 9:30 kick-off time. The Satellites successfully defended a number of early attacks and corners, with Isobel Kandak, Tallula Musgrove, Tia Eldridge and Alex Hayward generally all proving too strong for the attacking team. Tilly made a couple of important saves as well as making a crucial punch from a threatening corner.
Despite the early pressure from Beacon Hill, Churt took an early lead with a cool finish from Hannah Watts following a pass from Ruby Clark.
Churt made a couple of changes after 20 minutes with Amy Thompson coming on for Tia in defence, and Lily coming on for Ruby in midfield. Amy T made an immediate impact, providing the through ball for Churt’s second goal after 25 minutes, with Ella Farrier tucking the ball away nicely. This was exactly the start Churt had been hoping for! 2-0 to the Satellites.
Beacon Hill fought back strongly following this early set back and scored a wonderful goal on the 28th minute. Their striker received the ball with her back to goal, and subsequently weaved her way past 2 Churt defenders with a couple of lovely feints before scored a great goal into the corner of the goal. 2-1 to the Satellites.
The Satellites have fallen prey to come backs from Beacon Hill in the past, so we were determined not to fight to preserve and extend their lead. From this point onwards Churt dominated the game and played some lovely passing football on the carpet-like surface, with Emily Watts, Phoebe Mitchell, Maisie Lambert, Lily Jay and Ruby Clark dominating the midfield.
Hannah Watts scored her 2nd goal on the 31st minute; Hannah, ‘the goal machine’, received the ball from her sister Emily, but was then forced wide by the defence. Hannah scored an outrageous goal from an impossible angle, beating the goaly at her near post.
Hannah’s completed her hatrick in the 37th minute. Running on to a through ball from Ruby, she just managed to reach the ball before the on-rushing goalkeeper and poked the ball to the side, before passing the ball into the net. 4-1 to Churt at half time.
The home team stuck to the same formation for the 2nd half, although re-jigged the positions slightly for some further half time substitutions. The team were determined to continue attacking to prevent the away team getting back into the match.
Maisie scored her 1st goal of the game in the 45th minute. Ruby squared the ball to her at the edge of the box, and she unleashed a powerful shot which the goalkeeper was unable to stop. Churt’s sixth goal came in the 52nd minute, with Ruby again providing the assist. Ella found herself 1 on 1 with the goaly and smashed the ball into the top left corner of the goal.
Maisie scored her 2nd goal of the game in the 65th minute. Following a powerful run down the left, she made a terrific cross / shot which the goalkeeper could only parry into her own net. The final goal came in the 71st minute. Ruby capped a terrific performance with a powerful run down the right into the box, before unleashing an impressive shot into the roof of the net. Final Score 8-1!
