A Tight game in the cup

Both Teams arrived at the pitch for the first time, as even though it was a home game for Churt, they had never played on this pitch at Farnham Park, and it was the worst we'd played on for a while, with Slopes and bobbles.

The game started and it was very close, a midfield battle, not alot of chances, the ball bouncing around and not alot of good football being played. Both teams had a couple of breakthroughs but not much than long shots from Churt which the keeper always had covered well.

On the 24th minute, Maisie Lambert made a run down the left and crossed the ball, Liv Potter got to the ball first in the penalty area and put the shot wide of the keeper and just inside the post. 1-0 Churt.

The game remained pretty even, but on the 35th minute, Amy Thompson running down the right, put the ball through to Hannah Watts who rounded the keeper, had she over run the ball, luckily no, she managed to shoot and score. 2-0 Churt.

Half time game but it was still close.

In the second half Meadow sports started to dominate the midfield and Churt weren't finding their natural rhythm.

The Churt defenders didnt clear the ball on th 56th minute and suddenly Meadow Sports were through and loosed a shot over Tilly Carr in goal, however she Got her fingers to it, it still went over and she got to it again and an attacker got a toe poke on the ball, Tilly saved again but couldnt quite keep the ball out. So nearly from the Churt keeper Tilly to keep it out but where were the Churt defenders at that point, pretty static, 2-1 and deservedly so.

Meadow Sports had their heads up and carried on battling, again some mistakes in clearing the ball, the ball was bobbling around and Churt hadn't got their heads around it being a different game to the usual pitches. Again Meadow sports broke and scored. 2-2.

Now who wants it most, Churt's heads had dropped and Meadow Sports were believing, but suddenly Churt found another level and were forcing some attacks. Hannah Watts having some shots saved, and on the 75th minute, Ella Farrier, now playing at right wing back, made a good run and got the ball into Ruby Clarke, she weaved in and out and took a great shot past the keeper. 3-2 and how they celebrated.

At last Churt looked like a team and they held on and won the game. Some times the cup throws up funny results. Meadow Sports played brilliant and got under the skin of the Satellites but Churt Satellites just about sneaked it in a close game.
