After two seasons finishing second in the Division 1, Churt were promoted to Tier 1 and the team feels ready to compete at a higher level.
It was the hottest day so the decision was taken to take a full squad of 16 players, so the substitutes could be used to full effect.
The match kicked off with Teddington dominating, particularly down the left side, but they didnt really create any clear chances.
After about 10 minutes, Churt started to settle into the game and were pressing the keeper well as Teddington passed well out from the back.
After 17 minutes though, Hannah Watts pressed the keeper and she passed to short to her team mate, so Hannah pounced and shot first time into the net. Churt took the lead !!
The game was pretty even till half time, with both teams using alot of subs and having chances, but not alot of clear cut ones.
The second half started and Teddington started the better, but Churt evened it out and in some ways started to dominate a little.
On the 66th minute, a brilliant team move, starting in the middle, pushed forward to Hannah Watts, who flicked the ball to the left, where Maisie Lambert put in a through ball to Ella Farrier, who run onto the ball, controlled it, held off the defenders and shot just under the cross bar to make it 2-0.
Now Churt were on top and Teddington were starting to look dejected.
The last 5 minutes everyone was tiring, and Teddington broke through a couple of times, eventually on the 77th minute their looped a shot just over Jamie Nixon (who was having her debut in goal), and Jamie got a hand to it but couldnt keep it out. Suddenly it was 2-1 with all backs to the wall.
Churt gave their everything and defended together as a team, and the result ended up 2-1 to Churt!. A great start to the campaign.
Player of the match was Isobel Kandak, who was first to everything and gave a commanding display. However every player on the team, gave their all, played well, and played for each other, in the ridiculous heat!!.
Well done girls!
