Dorking Wanderers 4 Churt Satellites 1

Greig Watts29 Jan 2023 - 16:22

A Good friendly between two strong sides!

After many weeks of postponed games, it was great to get a friendly against Dorking Wanderers from the Premiership. Churt arrived at the game second in Division 1, whilst Dorking arrived second in The Premiership, so this was going to be a tough game for Churt.

The game started and Dorking scored a goal within the first minute, cutting through the Churt defence. 1-0.

On the 4th minute, Churt failed to clear the lines and Dorking scored again, 2-0 to Dorking and it was looking worrying for the Satellites.

But Churt started to fight more, and Hannah Watts worked a move passing to Maise Lambert on the left, who run and beat the defender and then tucked the ball into the net after 8 minutes. Churt were back in it at 2-1.

Shortly after though Dorking scored again, through an unfortunate richochet, bouncing off Tallula Musgrove's head and into the back of the net. This one was just bad luck, but the game was back to 3-1.

Churt continued to press where they could and Dorking threaten every time they came forward, and just before the half time whistle, a free kick was given on the right side of the Churt penalty box. Dorking looped it in over the wall and over the keeper, 4-1. Half Time.

Churt, hadn't played badly, maybe the first couple of minutes they were caught napping, but Dorking were a strong team, and Churt had competed well, just not quite good enough. The coaches told them to keep on playing and they switched the formation a bit.

The teams came out for the second half, and continued to play a hard fought game. A couple of chances each end, with Tilly Carr, keeping Dorking out and the Churt attack not quite getting past the Dorking defenders, but this half was much more even as Churt were more up for the fight. The Churt defence looked stronger, and Isobel Kandak was having the game of her life, nothing was getting past. !

If anything Churt were more on top now and creating through balls but not so many clear cut chances and every now and then Dorking caught them up on the break. But no further goals were scored, so the game ended 4-1 to Dorking. A much more even second half and a good game between two sides. Churt learning how tough the premiership is, as Dorking took their chances and defended very well.

Churt player of the match was Isobel Kandak, who simply didnt let anything passed her. Honourable mentions to Phoebe Mitchell, who never stops running and Maisie Lambert, who scored a great goal .

Now looking forward to get back to the league fixtures!
