Two Strong Teams Battle It Out But Churt Win Through In The End

Churt came into the game without key players, Tallula Musgrove and Emily Watts, so they had to find a new defensive shape and move some players around.

The game kicked off and it started off end to end, and within the first minute, Ruby Clarke was through on goal but she didnt quite connect and the keeper made a save. Soon after, on the third minute, the ball was up the other end, and R & R Girls attacker whipped in a cracking shot ,which moved in the air, Churt Keeper Tilly getting a hand to it, but couldn't stop it going in the back of the net. 1-0 to R & R Girls.

From the kick off, Churt attacked and scored an equaliser straight away, with a good move ending up with Ella Farrier swing a cross in from the right for Hannah Watts to hit first time into the net, 1-1.

Churt broke through a couple more times with both Hannah and Ella failing to beat the keeper, so the game remained at 1-1 after the first quarter and As the first substitutions were made, R & R Girls were starting to pin Churt back.

This continued for the first half and although Churt missed a few early chances, in some ways they were also lucky to still be at 1-1 as the R & R Girls Midfield was first to everything.

The Coaches made a few Midfield changes and gave some instructions to get more stuck in in the middle and the Second half started with a similar competitive game but Churt started to get back on top and create more chances. Some lots of nice attacking play was either not quite finished or the keeper made a good save but eventually a great whipped in ball from Ruby Clarke reached the penalty area, where Hannah "The predator" Watts fired home a shot first time, this is the best way to beat this keeper it seems! 2-1 to Churt.

The game stayed a little end to end, although the Churt midfield were now winning most of the battles and the ball often breaking to the forwards to start the attack. The R & R Girls keeper made a couple more great saves so the game stayed at 2-1.

In the last few minutes, R & R Girls stepped up the pressure with a few long shots but they didn't quite make it past the Churt defence and the game finished at 2-1. A strong win from Churt against a very well organised and coached team. Some times you have to win the points and its not always pretty, that was one of those games but both teams made it a close battle.

Churt had a number of great performances, Maisie Lambert never giving up, Hannah Watts grabbing some more goals, Phoebe Mitchell, getting on top of the midfield battle in the second half and the Churt defence not letting much through. As always a few crucial saves from Tilly Carr. On the whole though, Captain Amy Thompson, marshalled the defence really well and played the full game, even though she'd had 4 teeth out a couple of days previous. She leads the team and makes such a difference when she's there, so well done Amy and well done Satellites!
