Churt came into the game having lost the last three games and they really needed a win to re-spark their season.
The two teams set up and kicked off, Churt tweaking the formation slightly with Emily Watts moving into the Defensive midfield role. Also the team were given the incentive of the first one to score a goal from outside of the box, receives a £10 note. (The past three games this has been the difference between winning and losing).
Churt started ok, slightly on top and never really being threatened, but the first half was playing out in a similar way to previous games, where no break through came and Churt were looking a little bit lethargic. There were a few nice moves that came to nothing, but some of the passing play in the midfield was looking good.
Towards the end of the first half, Emily won the ball near the half way line and passed the ball through to her sister, Hannah, but the defender got there first but made a mistake, so Hannah pounced on the ball and ran into the box, tucking away a short into the corner. 1-0 To Churt and shortly after the half time whistle went with the score the same.
The coaches once again, geed up the players and said they needed to get first to every tackle and win the ball and when the team went out for the second half, the performance improved a lot.
Immediately, Maisie Lambert made a run down the left, beating one player and then the goalkeeper to make it 2-0! Great start to the second half!
Churt now started to dominate play completely, creating a few more chances and on the 43rd minute, Emily Watts got the ball in the middle of the Claygate half, she beat one player with a shimmy and got herself into a shooting position, and there was the shot looping over the goal keeper from about 25 yards, brilliant she'd won the 10 pound note and also got Churt ticking and believing they can shoot! 3-0 Churt.
Churt continued to dominate with the odd bit of pressure from Claygate, but the Churt defence held out, time after time, lead by Tallula Musgrove who was the first to everything they came at her. The defence was also distributing the ball well when they won the ball, and having Emily in front of them was really working as she was creating a lot of movement with her passing!
Amy Thompson had a run down the right hand side, beating two players for pace but then just couldn't get the cross in.
On the 52nd minute, Ruby Clarke made a great run down the left and swung a cross into the box, the ball bounced around a bit, then fell to Martha Pittman, who controlled the ball well, shimmied to the right and smashed it home from 6 yards. She was determined not to miss from there and scores her first Churt goal, I'm sure there will be more during the season!. WELL DONE MARTHA!!
Churt were still dominating and Ella Farrier was tripped in the box, but nothing given, and then she challenged for the next ball toughly, which ended in a shin clashing on shin, so she soon had to come back off for the rest of the game.
Hannah Watts took her place, and Pheobe Mitchell came back on into the Defensive Midfield role, giving Emily a well earned rest, what a game she'd had!
On the 61st minute, Claygate made a run down the left and cut the ball inside, a player took a looping shot, right into the corner, once again, unstoppable for Churt keeper, Tilly Carr, and Churt beaten by a looping shot. The good news is they already had 4 goals themselves, so the score was now 4-1.
More chances came and went, lots of good midfield play again but the final ball not quite getting through to Hannah and Amy O.
On the 68th minuter, Claygate had a goal kick and passed short, the press predator, Amy O'Donnell , nicked the ball and got it straight to Hannah in the box who hit in first time into the corner. No one else scores those but Hannah does!, with her clinical first touch finishing. The strike pair showing Churt at their best, with Amy pressing and Hannah finishing. 5-1 Churt.
The game finished with the score 5-1 to Churt. Their first win in after 3 losses and the team clicking into a good momentum again. The Second half was so much better than the first and the passing play, started to look really good, so well done girls. There could have been a lot of Woman of the Match awards but Tallula Musgrove wins it, with the way she commanded the defence, and looked in control throughout. !
