Churt came to the fixture, not having played since early October and the break proved to be an important factor in the game.
Both teams started well, but after a few minutes Churt started to dominate play, without having any clear chances.
Several corners for Churt and lots of good play down the right side from Phoebe Mitchell, resulting mostly in the ball getting back to the goalkeeper. Eventually Churt had their best chance with a Header just flicked by the post from Maisie Lambert.
After 23 minutes, The Cobras had a break and managed to score from a long looping shot after not clearing the ball on the penalty area.
1 - 0 to the Cobras.
Churt continued to dominate possession in pouring conditions, both teams looking soaked and not really getting the ball down to play.
Half time it was still Cobra Reds 1- Satellites 0.
Churt again came out in the second half and dominated possession but no real clear chances until the 45 minute when the ball was played across the penalty area and A Cobra player reached out with their hand and handled the ball, from the Ricochet, Martha Pittman scored. Unfortunately the referee had already blown his whistle and awarded a penalty.
After a short break while Hannah Watts tied Ella Farrier's laces, Ella stepped up and smacked the penalty against the crossbar, it just wasnt Churt day as it simply wouldn't go in.
With numerous personnel changes and continued domination, Churt had a few more shots that didnt trouble the Cobras goalkeeper and the match finished 1-0 to the Cobra's. Churt defence and goalkeeper actually had a pretty good game, but the midflield and attack, didnt quite click today!
On this occasion, Churt just weren't good enough,, to open up the Cobra defence, and the Cobra defence dealt with everything Churt threw at them.
Player of the match was Phoebe Mitchell, who was not only the strongest player on the pitch, but also when she was subbed, the loudest and most coachlike, whilst the coaches had to stay silent due to it being a Silent Weekend.
This is Churt's first loss since January, so hopefully a wake up call and they can get back to winning ways in the league, in the next game against Mole Valley. In the meantime, Wimbledon await in next week's cup game. Anything can happen in the cup!
