Churt Continue Their Unbeaten Run

The Teams arrived for their penultimate game of the season unable to change their league positions of 2nd (Churt) and 10th (Barnes), so it had the feeling of a "nothing to lose" type game.

So we told the full squad of Churt players, 13, to go out today and have fun!

As the game started, Churt immediately dominated the possession and after a couple of minuters, Maisie Lambert had a long shot which just missed the target.

Churt had Barnes pinned back, and were pressing the goal kicks, in the third minute, Amy O'Donnell and Ella pressed as a pair, winning the ball back and Amy O'Donnell scoring the first goal of the game. 1-0 to Churt.

On the 10th minute, Ella Farrier crossed in a ball from the goal line, and Liv Potter tucked the ball into the net. Unfortunately the goal was disallowed by the lines person, due to the ball going out of play before Ella crossed it.

Churt were dominant but only 1-0 up and Barnes had a couple of runs at the defence, with the left winger being very fast and the ball was played across the goal, but Isobel Kandak cleared calmly away from goal.

Lily Jay also had a shot that was just wide of goal, then the ball went up the other end, and Churt goalkeeper, Tilly Carr made a fantastic double save to keep the score at 1-0.

Churt made a couple of changes at 15 minutes, with Amy Recker coming on for Amy Thompson at Right Wing Back and Holly Donati, coming on for Lily Jay in Midfield.

Barnes had another strong run down the left and once again the ball came across the Churt goal, Tilly again making a clearing save, and between her, the post and Isobel, the ball was cleared away, but phew that was close.

Barnes were now a little on top and had a free kick just outside the box. This was shot wide of the post.

Just before the end of the first half, Maisie Lambert had another nice shot that just went wide of the post and there was another great save and goal mouth scramble from Barnes. In a way, Churt lucky to come in at half time, still 1-0 up.

Churt utilised their squad at half time and made four changes. Hannah Watts coming on upfront for Amy O'Donnell. Emily Watts in defence for Tallula Musgrove. Lily Jay back into the midfeild for Liv Potter and Amy Thompson back at right back for Holly Donati. Amy Recker moved into centre midfield.

Amy Thompson's specific instruction was to track their left winger and from the kick off, she did that and kept her out every time. (WELL DONE CAPTAIN AMY!)

Churt were back on top and the combination of Ella Farrier and Hannah Watts was causing problems for the Barnes defence, they just couldn't handle the combined press and fresh legs of Hannah running at them.

On the 40th minute, Maisie Lambert was making a good, dribbling run, and she was fouled just outside the box. Ella Farrier missed the target with the free kick.

On the 41st minute, Ella made up for her previous miss, by pressing the Barnes goal kick, she nicked the ball off them and passed across goal to Hannah to tuck the ball away. 2-0 Churt.

2 minutes later, Hannah did pretty much the same, pressed the defence, stole the ball, crossed to Ella, Boom. 3-0

And 2 minutes after that, a 4th goal was added, with Emily Watts feeding a great through ball to her sister, who once again tucked the ball away. 4-0.

Churt were now dominant and made a couple more changes. Maisie Lambert, taking a well earned rest, and replaced at Left Wing Back by Amy O'Donnell. Amy Recker came off for Holly Donati, Liv Potter back on for Lily Jay and Tallula Musgrove back into defence for Isobel Kandak.

The Churt attack continued to be on top, a couple of shots from Holly were saved and just missed the target.

On the 52nd minute, Barnes had their only chance of this half, but it didn't trouble the Churt goalkeeper, Tilly Carr.

On the 55th minute, Emily Watts stole the ball in defence, and ran forward, evading a couple of tackles, once again she threaded a great through pass to her sister, who went past the Barnes defence and then stopped. OH NO, She heard the whistle on the pitch next to us!!!, OOPS Hannah's Hat trick may not happen today.

But it in the 59th minute, Emily pretty much did the same again and got another ball through to Hannah, she went round the Barnes defence, and although she went slightly wide, she struck a brillant shot into the goal. Another Hat-trick for Hannah, and her 38th goal of the Season. Some achievement.!

The game then ended with Churt on a high. 5-0 Winners. Totally dominant in the second half. A great team performance, a great clean sheet, A Hat Trick from Hannah and a couple of assists from Emily and Ella (which changed the scores for the awards that followed).

One more game to go next week, with table toppers, Beacon Hill. Unfortunately we can't catch them but it will be a great game.
