Satellites Keep Up The Chase With A Narrow Win / Mother’s Day nailbiter

Report 1 (written by Coach/James Farrier)
3-2 win today for Satellites against Richmond Park, their 3rd win against Richmond this season.
The Satellites were under pressure almost the whole game and did really well to concede only 2 goals.
Satellites took the lead after 5 minutes. A through ball from Emily Watts to her sister, Hannah, who delivered a great finish. It wasn't long, however, before Richmond equalised with a well worked goal.
Churt battled hard against a physical and technically strong midfield to prevent them from scoring further goals. Churt defended well, although Richmond still managed a few unsuccessful shots at goal.
Towards the end of the 1st half Churt then took the lead again. Hannah ran onto a long ball forward from Isobel, and used her strength to beat the defenders and made another great finish. Richmond continued to attack for the remainder of the half and almost equalised when they hit the post with some rare suspect defending by Churt.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first. Richmond were camped in Churt's half for the majority of the time. It didn't take long for Richmond to equalise; The goal came from an attack down the right; Churt missed a couple of chances to clear the ball and Richmond took full advantage.
However, Churt came back and scored a 3rd almost straight away. Another long ball was played to Hannah who completed a very impressive hatrick, assisted by Amy Thompson and a good clearance from Tilly Carr.
Churt switched to a back three and continued to defend almost continually. Churt made huge clearances where ever possible, with Tallula Musgrove and Ella Farrier taking the opportunity to kick the ball as far away from the pitch whenever possible.
Tilly made some fantastic saves / blocks in the second half, all of the defenders, midfields and wing backs made numerous crucial tackles, and our lone striker worked hard to win the ball whenever possible. A really great team effort! Woman of the match was awarded by the team to Emily Watts.

Report 2 , Written by the Parents!

After the warm, sunny day yesterday lulling us all to believe summer was here, several parents arrived underdressed for the weather: a dull, cloudy 8°C. Worse still, our volunteer linesman’s family had forgotten to change their clocks to summer time and we all feared the possibility of being volunteered to run the line! The relief was palpable as our linesman arrived with a minute to spare, thank you Archie Musgrove!

Richmond Park started off well: they had a couple of shots which went wide and a couple of corners which found Emily Watts, who cleared the ball out of the box. Then after 4 minutes, Tilly’s long goal kick bounced up and over the midfield, was picked up by Emily who passed it through to Hannah Watts. An excellent finish by Hannah gave us the lead, 1-0.

In the 10th minute Richmond Park equalised with a well worked goal. Only 2 minutes later Ella Farrier’s shot was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper who tipped it over the crossbar. After 23 minutes Hannah scored again from an excellent ball through by Isobel Kandak.
After a long and hard-fought 35 minutes the whistle blew for half-time. 2-1

Richmond Park started the 2nd half very strongly and equalised in the 46th minute with another well worked goal.
However only 1 minute later Amy Thompson took a great free-kick from just inside her own half which was beautifully picked up by Hannah who scored her hat-trick!

Richmond Park kept us in our own half for the majority of the 2nd half. Our defence were under a lot of pressure. Tallulah Musgrove, Isobel and Emily worked brilliantly together at the back and Tilly made a couple of great saves. We had a couple of chances on the counter attack but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Final score 3-2

A great game to watch between 2 very evenly matched teams. Richmond Park were very well organised: strong in defence and with pace and numbers going forward. We had to dig very deep to secure the 3 points. Well done girls, another great team performance!
Player of the match, in Greig’s absence was voted by the parents, went to Emily Watts. She covered so much of the pitch today and was an absolute rock in defence. Well done Emily.
