Satellites Stumble At Mole Valley

The teams arrived to play with a slight wind, on a sloped pitch and about the worst cut grass pitch we've played on so far, so not much good football was played today by either team.

Churt dominated the first half, continually pinning Mole Valley back in their own half, swinging in several corners but no real chances were made.
All of Churts possession never really turned into anything as the pitch stopped any good play through the middle and resulted in alot of big hoofs to get the ball anywhere.

The best chance of the first half for Churt was when a ball was lofted over the top, for Hannah Watts to chase, she managed to get to the ball and then put her opportunity just past the post. An offside flag was then raised so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

Mole Valley had an attack on the 28th minute and a shot from out the box went past Tilly Carr and into the goal. Totally against the run of play but also what happens when the dominating team don't take or make chances. Half time score Mole Valley 1 - Churt 0

Churt switched their formation to give more support up front and immediately they started to dominate again. Just like the first half, corners were won and swung in by Ella Farrier or Maisie Lambert, but still the ball wouldnt cross the line for Churt. (On one occasion the ball was cleared from the line but not quite in)

On the 36th minute, Ella Farrier swung in another corner from the left and the goalkeeper pushed it out to the edge of the box. Churt defender, Emily Watts, now playing in Midfield, took a first time shot and whacked the ball into the top left of the goal for her first goal of the season . 1-1.

Churt continued to dominate but still couldn't create many chances, a few shots went wide, it was just one of those games where it didn't quite fall right for them, while Mole Valley defended resolutely and the keeper had a good game.

In the last 5 minutes of the game, Churt continued to have several corners and the coaches were about to make a last minute substitution, taking a risk by swapping goalies and having an extra player up the pitch, but before we could, and with 2 and half minutes to go (on our clock), the referee blew the final whistle and the game ended 1-1. Someone's clock was wrong, could have been our stopwatch of course, but the game ended abruptly and with confusion and each team had to settle for a point.

A well fought point for Mole Valley and a frustrating one for Churt.

Churt Woman of the match was Emily Watts, who played well in defence for the first half, moving into midfield for the second and scoring her first goal with a wonder shot from the edge of the box.
