Satellites scrape another last minute win

After a convincing 5-0 win, the second match in this double header proved to be much tougher.
Satellites had the majority of the possession but couldn’t get the ball in the net. In the 11th minute, Hannah Watts' shot was well saved by the keeper. In the 14th minute, Liv Potters' shot just glanced over the top of the cross bar. This was followed shortly afterwards with a shot from Maisie Lambert which went just wide. Our defence was strong and nothing seemed to get past Isobel Kandak and Tallula Musgrove. Despite the rain getting harder, we continued to press but just couldn’t find the net. 0-0 at half-time.

Half-time and the parents scoured the pitch to try and find the referee’s whistle that had been lost on the pitch but to no avail!

In the 1st minute of the 2nd half, a great through-ball from Maisie fell to Hannah but the shot went wide. In the 5th minute, Tallula’s cracking shot hit the cross bar. Maisie got a shot from the rebound which was saved by the keeper. Almost immediately afterwards, Hannah’s shot, too, was saved. In the 8th minute Maisie’s free-kick fell to Ella Farrier, who crossed it in. The keeper missed it, her defender hand-balled it on the line and it fell to Hannah who found the back of the net, so no need for the penalty. 1-0 to the Satellites. In the 12th minute Ella’s shot was tipped over the crossbar by the keeper. Amy Thompson’s shot saved in the 15th minute. Walton and Hersham managed to break through our defence in the 17th minute and got the equaliser, 1-1.

Isobel was then brought back on to resume her fantastic defensive duties and Emily Watts moved forward into Midfleild. As time was running out, the Satellites continued to press forward. A flurry of activity in the final 3 minutes: Hannah’s shot went over the top of the crossbar, Ella’s shot went wide and a shot from Maisie was saved by the keeper. Finally in the dying minute of the game, Emily's driving run and pass reached her sister, Hannah, whose shot beat the keeper and secured the 3 points! A great, determined performance by the whole team to secure the win.
