Barnes Girls Eagles 0 Churt Satellites 6

Greig Watts16 Jan 2022 - 17:02

The Satellites keep on rising!

The two teams arrive at the game with Churt top of the table and Barnes bottom, however, the game started with the usual battling for supremacy with Barnes giving as much as they got.

Just before the 3rd minute was finished, the ball came to Churt defender, Tallula Musgrove, on the half way line, She put her foot right through the ball, sending it goal wards and it bounced over the Barnes keeper and just out of her reach. A great effort from Tallula, which may not have been her intension, but if you don't shoot, you don't score. 1-0 Churt.

The first goal gave Churt confidence and they started to dominate the game, on the 5th minute, Lily Jay crossed the ball and Maisie Lambert thundered the ball home to make it 2-0 to Churt.

On the 13th minute, Amy Recker played a wonderful diagonal ball forward to Ella Farrier, who gave chase and struck the ball hard and goal wards. The Barnes keeper managed to keep it out but Maisie Lambert was there again to stoke the ball into the next . 3- 0 Churt.

Churt then brought on the reinforcements , with Hannah Watts replacing Lily Jay, Emily Watts replacing Amy Recker, and Amy O'Donnell, replacing Amy Thompson.

Within minutes Churt had their 4th, with another run and cross/shot towards goal from the left from Maisie Lambert, which Liv Potter tucked home from Close range.

Churt were now very much on top and every time Barnes made their way forward, Isobel Kandak and Tallula Musgrove just made sure they got nowhere near the goal, with some brilliant clearances and chasing back. Again the Churt defence stood up and said, "NOTHING SHALL PASS".

The second half brought a few more changes, with Lily Jay coming back on for Ella Farrier, Amy Recker coming back on for Amy O' Donnell and Amy Thompson back to right back with Maisie Lambert coming off and Emily Watts moving to the left.

The teams came out again and the battle commenced, Churt were a little less dominant for a while as Barnes tested the Churt defence and Churt Goalie, Tilly Carr, who caught a few nice balls (even though she had a late night for her birthday).

On the 39th minute, Churt mounted another attack, and Lily Jay broke through, in the penalty area, and thundered a shot against the upright, it bounced out at an angle and the first person to pounce was Hannah Watts, who took the shot first time and put the ball in the net for Churt's 5th of the game.

A Few more changes came on 45 minutes with Ella Farrier coming back on for Lily Jay, Amy O'Donnell coming on for Liv Potter in midfield and Maisie Lambert coming back on for Emily Watts at left Wing Back.

Churt continued to have chances and dominate and then on 52nd minute, Lily Jay came back on in the midfield to replace Amy Recker who'd had a great game. Also Emily Watts came on for Tallula Musgrove in defence.

On the 55th minute, Hannah Watts pounced on the ball in the centre circle, she turned and saw the run of Ella Farrier and threaded a great ball through the Barnes defence. Ella ran onto the ball and beat the defenders and then powered a fantastic shot to secure Churt's 6th of the match.

The match finished 6 - 0 to Churt and was a strong performance from both teams, Churt having more strength in front of goal to take their opportunities, spreading the goals around the team and having a defence and goalkeeper who continue to keep clean sheets.

A good clean game from two competitive teams, the Woman of the match award went to Isobel Kandak, who made several important challenges, never allowing Barnes behind, and if they got close to the goal, she was always their to use her pace and stop the danger.
