Satellites Grab A Vital Late Win!

The teams turned up to the game with The Satellites joint top of the table and the Cobra reds a few points behind with some games in hand. The previous game had been a close fought battle, with Cobra Reds coming out on top 2-3, so both teams wanted and needed a win.

The game started with the Satellites dominating the first quarter, several corners came to nothing and a few chances were saved well by the Cobra Reds keeper.

The second quarter came with the Churt subs coming on, with Lily taking Ella's place upfront, Amy O slipping into right wing back in place of Amy Thompson, and Tallula Musgrove coming on for Holly Donati and Emily Watts moving into Midfield as Tallula went to centre back.

The game continued in the same way, a few more chances for Churt and some more good saves from the keeper, one shot from Hannah Watts was palmed away brilliantly by the keeper.

With the last kick of the first half, Walton had a fast moved forward which ended with a shot just past the post, showing that although the Satellites had been on top, the game is still close unless you score your goals, so the teams went in at half time drawing 0-0 and it was still anyone's game.

The third quarter brought some more changes, with Amy Thompson coming back on at Right Back, Amy O moving to Left Wing Back in place of Maisie Lambert, and Ella Farrier coming back on for Hannah Watts.
This quarter was more equal with Churt mounting a couple of attacks, but Walton also having a spell of corners and pinning Churt back at Goal Kicks. It was at this point that, Churt goalkeeper, Tilly Carr, really did a great job of making some catches, long kicks and some clever short goal kicks, which kept Walton out.

In the last quarter the final changes were made, with Hannah Watts coming back on for Lily Jay, Amy T coming off injured and Amy O moving back to Right Wing back whilst Maisie Lambert came back on at left wing back and Liv Potter came back on in Midfield, as Holly took a well earned rest. Churt started to dominate again, putting a lot of pressure on the Walton defence. Emily Watts and Liv Potter started to dominate the midfield and started to get the ball forward to Hannah Watts and Ella Farrier up front, but the breakthrough still didn't come.

On the 55th minute, Emily Watts made a battling run down the right and then a great cross into the box that beat everyone apart from her sister, Hannah, who chased the ball, on the 6 yard box, as it ran away from her. As she caught up with the ball, she managed to get a left foot shot on the turn which beat the goalkeeper and went into the net. At last Churt were ahead and deservedly so.

Churt continued to peg Walton back and on the 59th minute, Maisie Lambert made a battling interception, then beat two players by threading the ball through the space and running past them. Once past the defence she slipped in a fantastic cross, to Ella Farrier, who clipped the ball at an angle straight past the keeper, using the pace of Maisie's cross it was a fantastic second goal that Secured the 3 points for Churt. As the final whistle blew, Churt were the winners, with a great team performance by all, winning 2-0.

As usual the team played like a team thats battling for the title, all playing for each other and covering each others position. They came up against a very strong goalkeeper but eventually they found the way through. The woman of the match went to Churt Goalkeeper, Tilly Carr, who kept a clean sheet along with her strong defence.
