The morning started with a couple of Churt players becoming unavailable due to illness overnight and one of the teams' pet cat looking like it Is on its way out, so showing us sometimes life is more important than just football.
But the game kicked off at 12 with both teams knowing each other after the game last week, Tallula Musgrove volunteered to go in goal for the first half as our normal goalkeeper, Tilly, was unwell. Emily Watts also started the first half in defence in a come back from injury, whilst Amy O' Donnell took up a new position in the centre of midfield, alongside Holly Donati.
Churt dominated the first half, creating a lot of chances with Ella Farrier and Hannah Watts combining well, but the finishing wasn't as good as the build up play, until the 14th minute, when Amy O'Donnell and Hannah Watts combined well, to get the ball though to Ella Farrier, who ran in on goal and shot past the keeper. Emily Watts also took a knock and came off the pitch to be replaced by Amy Recker who slotted in at right wing back, whilst Amy Thompson covered for Emily in defence.
The Churt forwards continued to dominate with some beautiful build up play, but nothing quite went in the net, until the 29th minute, where Maisie Lambert threaded the ball through to Hannah Watts, who just got to the ball before the opposition goalkeeper to make it 2-0 (That one was for Echo, Hannah's cat), and the teams came in at half time with the Satellites 2-0 up.
For the second half, Ella Farrier took a turn in goal and Tallula came onto the pitch in defence. Emily Watts returned to the game in the defensive midfield position whilst Holly Donati took a short break. Churt started the second half with just Hannah Watts upfront and a packed midfield.
The second half was less dominant from Churt but they still created some chances, Claygate had a couple of runs into the Churt half but they didn't really trouble the Churt goalkeeper, as both the Churt midfield and defence, were having a commanding game and not letting anything pass. Isobel Kandak had a solid game at the back throughout and being joined by Tallula in the second half, nothing was going to get past either of them!
Amy Thompson had some good runs down the right side, whilst Maisie Lambert was always battling and attacking down the left and on one occasion Hannah Watts was almost through only to collide with the Claygate defender and give away a foul.
Half way through the half, Holly Donati came back onto the pitch and replaced Emily in the Defensive midfield role and Holly made some great interceptions and also had one good shot on goal.
There was time for one more attack from Churt, in the 59th minute, with Maisie Lambert slipping the ball through to Hannah, to run into a one on one with the goalkeeper, Hannah calmly went around her and slotted the ball home. WSL and Premiership forwards would have been proud of that one and it topped off a great performance from Churt's attacking players, as well as a solid one from the midfield and defence. A resounding 3-0 victory, which could have been more, with the chances in the first half.
It was very hard to pick a woman of the match, with all the outstanding performances, but it was given to Maisie Lambert for her battling performance down the left and for her two assists. A very good win for Churt and a very proud moment to see them come through, so solidly, after the mornings events.
This win we dedicated to the players who couldn't play, Tilly, Liv and Lily and Hannah's cat Echo!
